The shelves in my studio are getting empty. Blocks packed, tools packed and soon machines will be packed as well. I am just doing a bit of stitching work at the moment on a couple of hats that are near complete. They won't see the light of day until I have reached the new studio 9 days from now. Well, I will reach my new home in 9 days, getting access to keys etc. This will be the last blog entry from the old studio that has served me for more than 1 and 1/2 year. The space has been wonderful, but too small for my ever expanding operation. I hope the new location will be a spot where Hufvud can grow for the next 10 to 15 years. In about a year from now, I will turn 40 and I hope I have another 30 - 40 years left to craft amazing hats and keep the craft alive for the coming generations.
I am happy to have managed to finish crafting this RAGNAR FEDORA in a 50X Beaver Blend, Majestic Blue! It is magnificent! I don't have the perfect matching ribbon color to the felt yet, only this lighter shade for the brim binding and then darker shades from there. With that said, I opted for a Sudan Brown ribbon around the crown. I am happy I went with that. Looks absolutely stunning and I can't wait to see someone wearing this hat. Size 60, 7 1/2 US. It is available in the Marketplace page of the site.
I also finished crafting a 100X Beaver LEIFUR Lucky FEDORA in Sable Brown. Magnificent light weight felt and this one is also available in the Marketplace at a great bargain price.
In other news, I just received notice from my felt supplier that I will receive about 200 new pieces of felt this coming summer. Summer is not far away and that addition to the studio felt stock will be much needed. I am already placing more orders for felts to get ready for the coming Autumn. Apparently, it's a bit easier now to receive felts. This will result in a big expenditure this year. Not only from that, but I also have 2 grand new custom tools that will enhance the studio space and also make work less strenuous on my hands and arms. I do want to craft more hats in a shorter period of time and some additional tools will be helpful in that process. More on that when they arrive, probably towards summer as well.
I will be quiet for the next couple of weeks as I am about to move to my new home and studio space. It will be difficult to work when I am focusing on building my new home and setting up my new Hufvud studio simultaneously. Orders are still welcome during this period and I intend to hit the ground running once everything is in place. Finally, I will be able to share more regarding my studio and I will let you follow me on my journey to build it back up. More custom furniture are needed and I have plans to bring back elements from past hat factories that will not only add to the look but provide a vital function in the making of hats.
Thank you all for your support in 2023. I am glad to be at your service and to craft your ideal hat that is built for a legend and will stand the test of time. Much love and thanks!
